PHOTOVILLE

Role: Education Coordinator, 2017-2021

Photoville is a New York-based non-profit organization and annual outdoor festival that works to promote a wider understanding and increased access to the art of photography for all. Photoville Education provides year-round programming to engage young people and educators with visual storytelling through workshops, resources, and field trips.

As the Education Coordinator, I designed and implemented youth and educator programming, including a yearly festival field trip serving over 600 NYC students with a team of 40-50 volunteers and 20 presenting artists. I also produced professional development workshops and labs in which NYC-area educators and Photoville artists collaborated to create syllabi around visual storytelling. I edited a wide catalogue of lesson plans, toolkits, and artist talk videos in addition to being the main festival photographer.

Our education programming was also designed to support and showcase youth artists and emerging photographers. I moderated two talks in 2021 that brought youth and adult artists together in conversation, one of which included several New York Times editors and photographers.
